RYLA

Spencer Beeman spoke first and thanked the Magnolia Rotary Club for sending all of the students to RYLA this year. Spencer stated that every student learned a great deal about leadership and teamwork as well as a great deal about themselves. Spencer has also agreed to come back next year and be a student counselor. Spencer is also in Interact this year.The other students each spoke about their experience at RYLA and all of them spoke about the projects they were given. Some of the team building experiences they discussed were:

 

1. Mountain Top slide

2. "The Wall" where they had to pass their entire group through a window about 10 feet off the floor.

3. A "morals" test where Brian Drieu told everyone that he used the Rotary 4-way test to answer all of his moral dilemma questions in one of their exercises.

4. Building a chariot from cardboard and tape and then racing it with two students inside.

5. Learning a new song. The group sang "Peanut Butter Monday" to everyone.

 

All the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and stated they had learned a great deal from it.

 

While at RYLA, each student had to fill out an informational form about themselves and tell something about themselves that most of their fellow students would not know. Shown below are those forms:
