On March 1, 2016, MWHS Principal Brandon Garza introduced four "Students of Excellence" from Magnolia West High School (MWHS). Pictured from left to right are Kyle Rohmer, Thomas Herben, Brianca Lopez, Makenzie Kulhanek, and WMHS Principal Brandon Garza.
 
Principal Brandon Garza told everyone what a great pleasure it is for him to introduce this quarter's "Students of Excellence" and how privileged he is to have such great students at his school. Principal Garza then introduced the four students one at a time and provided an overview about each student and then had each student talk about MWHS and their plans for the future. He also pointed out what great parents these students have and how much their parents support them in their school endevors.
 
1. Bianca Lopez
 
Bianca Lopez is in the top 6% of her fellow senior classmates and is involved in many endeavors including but not limited to Cheer Leading, DECA, NHS, and Student Council and has won numerous academic awards. Her teachers say that she is a warm, caring, natural leader who is a pleasure to have in their classes.  Bianca told everyone that she loves the culture at MWHS as well as the staff and teachers. She feels they have taught her so much including how to better time manage her activities. She plans on attending the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio where she plans on majoring in Accounting.
 
2. Kyle Rohmer
 
Kyle Rohmer is in the top 2% of his fellow senior classmates and is the Captain of the Varsity Tennis Team and is considered one of the top players in the district conference. His teachers say he is a high caliber student in all respects and is a natural leader and is known for his integrity and willingness to help other students. He is also in the NHS and makes top grades. Kyle told everyone that he really likes MWHS and appreciates the teachers and staff. Kyle plans on attending Texas A&M after graduating and will pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering.
 
3. Thomas Herben
 
Thomas Herben is 3rd in his senior class and is involved in many things including being the NHS President, being involved in the Student Leadership Council and is also an Eagle Scout. His teachers say he is an amazing student who strives for excellence in everything he does and is considered one of their best and brightest in their classes. Thomas also talks highly about the MWHS teachers and staff and likes the MWHS culture. Thomas plans on going to either Cornell University or Rice University where he will pursue a degree in Applied Mathematics.
 
4. Makenzie Kulhanek
 
Makenzie Kulhanek is number one in her senior class and has a passion for dance although she is involved in many other things including NHS, DECA, the MWHS Fillies and still manages to have put in 150 volunteer hours in her community. Her teachers say she is an amazing student as well as a natural leader who always works hard at everything she does, has outstanding grades, and always has a positive attitude in and out of class. Mackenzie also talks highly of the MWHS teachers and staff. Mackenzie plans on attending UT at Austin and will pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering.
