Bonnie Pfrenger of the Meals on Wheels program began her presentation by presenting a video of their program.
She then continued by telling us more about the program. She said that their oldest volunteer is 92 years old.
Meals on Wheels provides support for people that are 60 and older who are in need of assistance.
The allow seniors to age in place.
Social Security and Medicare do not prepare meals for disabled and aged.
Their families are at a distance and can't help.
Provides nutritious weekday meals and human contact and safety checks.
 
65 thousand baby boomers turn 65 each day.
The Montgomery Meals on Wheels program covers 1000 square miles with 180 volunteers.
The average age of the seniors on the program is over 80 years with 90 over 90.
There are 550 on the service.
 
One year's worth of meals costs less than one day in a hospital.
90% of the revenue goes to the program.
 
Bonnie said that the Magnolia facility is the only one with a build in kitchen and chef.
They provide kitche tours every Friday.
Their major fundraiser is a Clay Shoot.
