On April 12, 2022, Melissa Boland (president of the Magnolia Youth Football Association) spoke to the members of the Magnolia Rotary Club about her organization. Pictured above from left to right are: Melissa Boland and Kelly McDonald (President of the Magnolia Rotary Club).
 
The meeting started with President Kelly McDonald giving some biographic information about Melissa Boland. Specifically that Melissa Boland:
  • Has lived in Magnolia on and off for 9 years.
  • Has lived in such far off places as Dubai, UAE, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Ulsan, South Korea and Alaska.
  • Has been married for 14 years to her husband Randy Boland.
  • Has 4 boys ranging in age from 7 to 11 with two of them being Twins.
  • Attended the Pennsylvania State University and graduated with a BA in law.
  • Is the President of the Magnolia Youth Football Association. All 4 of her boys play football.
  • Is President of the PTO at both Bear Branch Intermediate and Smith Elementary.
  • Is the VP of Fundraising and Grants for the Magnolia Education Foundation.
Melissa than explained who the Magnolia Youth Football Association is:
  • A 501.3c Non-Profit with over 40 years in the community (Estimated start in 1980).
  • Providing football and cheer to over 300 athletes annually (and growing).
  • An organization with kids starting at age 5 and going to age 12 (age waivers are needed for 4 yer olds).
  • Part of a larger football alliance with the Lonestar Youth Football Association.
  • An organization that plays against 7 teams traveling to The Woodlands, Humble, Huntsville, Navasota, Bryan, Montgomery and Kingwood (will change next year).
  • An organization that elects a Representing Board annually (made up of gracious volunteers).
Melissa that showed an organization chart of the people under her as well as photos of the current Freshman Team, Softmore Team, Senior Team, Cheer Leaders and her family.  When asked, Melissa stated that their year starts off with camp on July 11th. Followed by two weeks of paid camp. Practice then starts on August 31st with 6 weeks of practice before the first game.
