Letter From District Governor

I hope you all are staying well in this unusual time. Many of us have cancelled meetings and hunkered down to weather this virus.

I want to encourage each of you to stay in touch with your clubs. There continues to be ways to serve our communities in this time of crisis.

 

As you may have heard by now, Rotary International has made the difficult decision to cancel the International Convention in Hawaii. 

 

In light of the current situation, my conference committee has made the difficult decision to cancel our district conference as well. 

While we are deeply disappointed that our Fun and Games will not happen as planned, we will have some type of event online to celebrate what we have accomplished up to this point and beyond as we go forward with the rest of our Rotary year.

 

RIP Mark Maloney's theme of Rotary Connects the World has transpired in ways we could not have imagined When he announced it in January 2019 at the International Assembly.

 

In keeping with this theme, I would like all our clubs to investigate ways to stay connected and continue to have meetings in some form. DGE Becky Mason is planning to use an online format in the upcoming district training meetings.

 

Zoom is a platform that many of us in the District Leadership are familiar with and have found it to be a very user friendly way to have committee meetings and club meetings. 

 

Facebook live and other social media platforms are also available.

 

This would also be a good time for your club to investigate Clubrunner if you are not already online. There are easy ways to email your entire club, keep track of your 5 year plans, archive your documents, etc.
