Julie Martineau, executive director of the Montgomery County Community Foundation and Rotarian, shared with the Magnolia Rotary Club a new concept called the Rotary House. Pictured above from left to right are: Julie Martineau and Magnolia Rotary Club President Chase Hogan.

With Montgomery County evolving into the North Houston Medical Center, this concept of Rotary House provides low-cost temporary housing to individuals and their families who are receiving treatment at one of South Montgomery's local hospitals including MD Anderson.

The Rotary House had their first family in January 2018. They currently have 2 corporate apartments that are available and the committee's long-term vision is to develop a property to house at least 10 individuals or families.

Hospital social workers will connect families in need of a place to stay during treatment to the Rotary House. Families should live outside the immediate area with preference given to those living more than 25 miles away. Cost to guest -- $130 regardless of the length of stay, with 3 months being the maximum stay.

Thank you to The Woodlands Rotary Club for bringing this vision to Montgomery County and setting the stage for other clubs to follow their lead. This is an example of "service above self."
