On October 5, 2021, District 5910 Governor, Jerry Springfield spoke to the Magnolia Rotary Club membership about Rotary Districts, Zones and Regions as well as "Opportunities to Grow our Club" and "Human Trafficking". Pictured above from left to right are Kelly McDonald (President of the Magnolia Rotary Club), Roschelle Springfield (wife of DG) and DG Jerry Springfield.

To show the difference in size between Rotary Districts, Zones and Regions, DG Jerry Springfield showed us maps showing all of the districts in Texas as well as all the districts in our zone (see below).

The definition of each is as follows:

At the core of Rotary is the club, which can have anywhere from a few dozen to hundreds of Rotary members.

Each club belongs to a District.  Rotary District 5910 (our district) currently has 40 clubs and a geographical area that extends over a wide range of far east Texas (See map above).  Other Districts come in a variety of sizes (both clubs and members) and geographical areas.

There are roughly 535 Districts in the Rotary world, which are then organized into Zones.  The Zones usually have around 18 Districts and there are 34 Zones. Since that's still a large number, the Zones are paired in two's.

  • What can we do?
    • Be aware of the warning signs.
    • Stay alert to those around you and what they may be trying to tell you.
    • Alert authorities.
