Rotary District 5910's Governor for the Rotary year '24-'25 makes his official visit to our clubDG Leon Willhite, along with his lovely wife Lynn, visited our club at the Eden Cafe and brought his message "The Magic of Rotary" to our members and guests. In 1905 Paul Harris and a few business associates formed Rotary in Chicago. That first club has grown to 49,000 clubs world wide with some 1.4 million member Rotarians. Magic!! He reviewed his experiences giving polio vaccines to children in India; a country with 1.3 billion people living in an area much smaller than that of the USA. When the Rotary project to eradicate polio began in 1988, India was experiencing some 55,000 cases of polio each year! Rotary and its many partners, have invested some $2.6 in vaccinating children world wide. Today India is polio free! Magic!!
He also commended us on our recent international project to train young adults in Sierra Leon on Conflict Resolution as well as our local projects including placing musical instruments in Unity Park and the construction of a Pollinator Garden at Magnolia High School. All Magic!
