On May 10, 2022, the Rotary Club of Magnolia met at "The Meating Place" on 41902 FM 1774 to listen to Alpha Academy's Principal talk about the "Students of Excellence" from Alpha Academy and help Chopin Chiang present a check for $1,000 to the Alpha Academy. President Elect Glenn Buckley introduced Alpha Academy Principal Bryan Cooper who first talked a little bit about Alpha Academy. Principal Cooper told everyone that the Alpha Academy is basically the "at risk program for students within MISD". This means that there are a number of students who for a variety of reasons can't go to the regular schools or can't do well in a standard high school environment who need a place like Alpha Academy where they can progress at their own pace and go to school on their own schedule. Principal Cooper then introduced Breanna Weeks and Brent Vanhoy who he described as some of the hardest working students he has come across. He further explained that Breanna has picked up 5.5 credits since January 2022 and is now officially a senior while Brent has picked up 4 credit hours since January 2022 and is now officially a junior. Both students were then presented with certificates from the Magnolia Rotary Club proclaiming them officially as Rotary "Students of Excellence". They are holding the certificates in the photo on the main page of this story.

Then Chopin Chiang presented a check for $1,000 to the Alpha Academy. Also in attendance were members of the Magnolia Rotary Club (see below):
