On Tuesday, May 18, 2021, Principal Brian Cooper presented this quarter's Students of Excellence from Alpha Academy to the members of the Magnolia Rotary Club. Pictured above from left to right are: Jett Schlidmeyer, Shelby Haines, Hope Moye (President of the Magnolia Rotary Club) and Principal of the Alpha Academy, Mr. Brian Cooper.

Before bringing up the students, Principal Brain Cooper told everyone a little bit about Alpha Academy since some newer people in the audience had never heard about Alpha Academy. Principal Cooper explained what Alpha Academy is (an alternative way to get a high school degree) and is not (an alternate school for problem kids). Principal Cooper also spoke about how Alpha Academy has had to work around Covid-19 issues, but was still able to graduate 38 students in January and 40+ this month. In addition, Alpha academy has partnered with S.O.S. and Inspiration Ranch to help students understand more about themselves and how to handle themselves as adults.

Both Shelby Haines and Jett Schildmeyer have already officially graduated from Alpha Academy but came back to tell everyone a little bit about themselves.

Schelly Haines enjoys working with horses and has been working at Inspiration Ranch and will be getting her High School Degree from Alpha Academy. She plans on going to Lone Star College this fall.

Jett Schildmeyer needed to get some foreign language credits to get his High School Degree and he did that at Alpha Academy. He has plans to move back to Idaho to work for his brother's epoxy company.

Both Shelby and Jett, when asked what advice they would give to other students going to Alpha Academy, said they would tell the students to work hard and not give up.
