On December 10, 2016, some of the Magnolia Rotary Club members braved the cold weather to help at the Rotary District 5910 All Club Food Distribution Event in Willis Texas at the Charles Traylor Memorial Park. Many Rotary members arrived at the park around 7:00AM in 39 degree weather to prepare for the food distribution that started around 9:30 AM. There were many vehicles that came through the two lines that formed on the sides of the distribution area where 6 or more Rotarians plced meats, vegatables, fruits, jucies, and cakes/baked goods into the vehicles that came through the line. It took between 2 and 3 hours to fill the last vehicle there was still food to be given out so some of the left over food was given to various Rotarians to give to needy families in their own neighborhoods. Although it initially was so cold that members who did not wear gloves had their finger tips go so numb that they had to stop and warm them, a good time was had by all and a great deal of food was given out to families in need.

In all, 122,231 pounds of food was distributed that day to 628 families. This added up to 2,296 individuals receiving food with which they could cook many healthy meals. Each Rotary Club also contributed $500.00 toward the purchase of the food.
