Our club is sending 3 High Scool students to this years RYLA, where they will join several hundred students experiencing leadership training.  At our January 20th meeting they will give us a report on their experiences.  Come join us.

Anshu Chandra has worked in Haiti for the past 15 years building and advancing eye care for underserved communities. She is dedicated to ending disparities in global eye care by bringing services to remote regions and promoting health equity. She leads efforts in Haiti and helped establish a permanent eye clinic in Fond-des-Blancs that provides both patient care and training for local residents.

In addition to the clinic, Anshu collaborates with institutions across Haiti through mobile eye clinics to address urgent needs while also supporting long-term solutions. This includes helping to strengthen the Haitian ophthalmology residency program in Port-au-Prince by expanding access to advanced training, equipment, and supplies so that all Haitians can receive high-quality eye care.

Anshu holds a Doctor of Optometry degree and completed her residency at SUNY College of Optometry in New York. Raised in India and the United States, she was strongly influenced by her mother’s work as a social worker serving underserved communities. These experiences shaped her understanding of both the challenges faced by disadvantaged populations and the practical solutions needed to address them.

Anshu has provided eye care in Nepal, Haiti, Peru, Lebanon, Tanzania, Honduras, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Indonesia, and India

Terre, the new President of the SWMCCC, will bring us up to date on all the happenings in the Chamber.

Dr. Bullock will discuss the revised Proposition A on the bond to be placed on the May ballot.

Tiffinay wil be briefing the club members & guests on the Railroad Commissions mission and current plans and challenges.Tiffany serves as the Public Engagement Coordinator for the Railroad Commission of Texas. In her role within the Office of Public Engagement, she aims to enhance public understanding of energy regulation in Texas and coordinate speaking engagements that address region-specific oil and gas questions while highlighting the vital role of Texas' energy industry. Prior to joining the Railroad Commission, Tiffany gained valuable experience in the automotive and transportation sectors. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Texas at Austin.

Chief Colburn will bring us up to date on happenings at the Magnolia Fire Department including the basis for the upcoming election to approve the 1 cent sales tax increase for unincorporated areas.
