On 4/28/2015, Associate Principal James Dristas introduced the four MWHS Students of Excellence for the current calendar quarter. Pictured from left to right are Associate Principal James Dristas, Erica Fox, Harrison Kubena, Cole Ferguson, Hannah Rokhsas, and Magnolia Rotary President Dan Lowe.
 
Associate Principal James Dristas introduced each of the students by listing some of their accomplishments and then asking them to tell everyone what it is about MWHS that they like. Mr. Dristas started the process by talking about Harrison Kubena. He then followed in order with the following students: Cole Ferguson, Erica Fox, and Hannah Rokhsas.
 
1. Harrison Kubena - A senior at Magnolia West, Harrison has been in the NJROTC for 4 years, band for 2 years, National Honor Society for 3 years, and the ACADEC (Academic Decathlon) team for one year. In band his Freshman year, he earned a letter playing Trumpet in State Solo and Ensemble. In NJROTC, he competes with the after school Drill Unit as a part of the Armed Regulation, Armed Exhibition, Academics, Physical Fitness, and Orienteering Teams. His Armed Exhibition team took first place at the State Drill meet. During the NJROTC class periods, he is the Operations Officer and creates the daily agenda for the Battalion and oversees the training of the 50+ West cadets. He volunteers with his church, last year working the entirety of Spring Break at a Youth Camp, building cabins. He is 6th in his graduating class of 331 and will be going to the U.S. Naval Academy tp major in Systems Engineering with the ultimate goal of piloting an F-35C Strike Jet. The thing that Harrison likes the most about Magnolia West High School is the PEP Rallies where he is the MC.
 
2. Cole Ferguson - A senior at Magnolia West, Cole has been involved in varsity soccer all 4 years of High School and was named captain for 2 years. Cole is ranked 14 in his graduating class of 331. Cole is involved in the DECA organization and has been a state qualifier for 2015. Cole is the Committee Chair for the National Honor Society and was named Senior Homecoming King. In his free time, Cole likes to spend time with his friends and family. This fall, Cole will be attending Texas A&M University to major in Engineering. He plans on becoming an electrical engineer and possibly taking over his family's business. The thing that Cole likes the most about Magnolia West High School is his friends and the great memories that he is making there.
 
3. Erica Fox - A senior at Magnolia West, Erica is the current Secretary of the National Honor Society and the class Treasurer in her Freshman and Junior years. She is a member of the Accounting UIL team and placed 5th in the district last year, 4th this year and has qualified for regionals two years in a row. Erica is also a member of DECA (an organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe) and has made it to state in both her junior and senior years. Erica is also the Drill Team Captain and has served that organization in previous years as both Social Officer and Treasurer. Erica will be graduating in the top 10% of her class and is ranked 3rd in her graduating class of 331. She plans on attending Texas A&M in the fall and majoring in Biomedical Engineering. The thing that Erica likes the most about Magnolia West High School is the number of organizations and clubs that allow everyone to find a place where they fit it and make friends.
 
4. Hannah Rokhsas -  A senior at Magnolia West, Hannah is in the top 10% of her graduating class and is ranked 27 in her graduating class of 331. Hannah is currently the Senior Captain of the Varsity Swim Team and she was awarded All District and All State this year in Girl's Swimming. Hannah volunteers at Waller Equine Hospital and is a horse handler at the Callegari Equestrian Center. She also volunteers at the Lakes of Eldridge Summer Swim Team for 8 and younger children. Hannah plans on attending Texas A&M where she will major in Biomedical engineering. The thing that Hannah likes the most about Magnolia West High is the fact that the school seems like one big happy family where she was able to fit in and find good friends starting in her Freshman year.
 
Dan Lowe announced that the meal provided at today's luncheon was prepared by members of the Culinary Class at Magnolia High School. A photo of that Culinary Team is below.
