On 9/23/2014, MHS Principal Jeff Springer introduced his choice for this quarter's "Students of Excellence". Pictured from left to right are: George Michael Swift, Alex Wheeler, Kensley Phillips, and Blake Hale.
 
Principal Jeff Springer told everyone that he is very proud to be the principal of the 4 students he recommended. Jeff also stated that all of the students were outstanding students who carry a full load in addition to being involved in sports, clubs, and other activities. They all have great parents who take the time to be involved in their lives and support them in all their endeavors. Jeff then introduced the following students who introduced their parents and then told everyone their college and career plans.
 
Alex Wheeler:
Besides having a full academic load with mostly AP classes, Alex is also a cheerleader and is on the school drill squad as well as being in varsity sports and the student council. She ranks 17 out of 384 in her class. Her teachers say she is a joy in their classrooms and always has a positive attitude and a smile for everyone. She is considered to be a real people person. Alex said she has been accepted to the University of Alabama at Touleane and Texas A&M but has not yet made her final choice. She will be majoring in Engineering but is not yet sure which field she will make her career.
 
Kensley Phillips:
Besides having a full academic load with mostly AP classes, Kensely placed 2nd in UIL Accounting within the whole state of Texas. Kensley is also involved with sports and various student clubs. She ranks 9 out of 384 in her class. Her teachers say she is dedicated, hard working, outstanding in class, and a well rounded individual. Kensley told everyone that she has been raised in the Magnolia ISD. She also has been accepted into A&M and plans to be a Petroleum Engineer.
 
George Michael Swift:
Besides having a full academic load with mostly AP classes, George is involved in varsity Football and Baseball. He is an Alpha Theta officer and is well thought of by everyone. He is ranked 4 out of 384 in his class. His teachers say his is a great leader and shows real empathy toward other students. He is also considered to be hard working and thoughtful. George told everyone that he will be attending Texas A&M and will major in Finance but will later get a law degree.
 
Blake Hale:
Besides having a full academic load with mostly AP classes, Blake is a natural leader and a great speaker. He is a leader on the debate team and placed 1st in UIL Accounting within the whole state of Texas. His teachers describe him as excited to learn, always smiling, very positive, and always very polite. Blake told everyone that he has applied to the University of Pennsylvania's Whaton School of Accounting. Blake is also a National Merit Scholar semi-finalist.
