Magnolia West High School principal, Brad Schnautz, presented the Students of the Month for Oct. 28th at our luncheon meeting.
 
 
Corrie Yaw:
Is looking forward to studying Mechanical Engineering and has already bee accepted at TAMU and is also applying to Venderbilt.
She is ranked 2nd in the class of 2015 out of 351 students.  She has been a member of the Student Council for all 4 of her years at MWHS.
She is a member of the NHS (National Honor Society) and DECA (specializes in marketing , finance, hospitality, management and entrepreneurship training).  
She has been a member of the Varsity Tennis team all 4 years and team captain for 2 years capturing 3rd in the district in mixed doubles during the spring of 2014.
Participated in Girl's State, Lone Star Leadership High School in 2013-14, and is a member of Unite West cohort 2013-2014.
Corrie has logged over 250 hours of community service.  She was named Outstanding Physics Student 2013-2014, Citizenship Award and on the Honor Roll.
She enjoys traveling with her family.  Her favorite trip so far was to London.
Corrie mentioned that when her family moved to Magnolia she was rather timid about going to a new school but struck up a conversation during opening assembly with a curly headed girl next to her.
That girl was Maddie Jones who we meet next.
 
Maddie Jones:
Going to study Business Administration at Texas A&M University.  She wants to get her MBA and work in finance.  She is ranked 18th in her class. 
She has been historian for the Sophomore, Junior and Senior classes. She has been a member of the Student Council for the last 2 years.  She is also a member NHS.
Maddie has been the co-captain of the Volley Ball  team for 4 years.  She is involved in Magnolia Bible Church youth group, likes to ride horses.
She even started her own pet sitting business, sitting miniature cows and livestock.  Her Principal mentioned that Maddie is the strongest leader he's met and everybody loves Maddie.
Maddie said that she felt rather lost when her family moved to Magnolia until he talked with the girl next to her... Corrie.
 
David Rhoads:
Planning on studying business with an emphasis in Finances to follow in his father's footsteps as a financial advisor.  He has applied to Rice with UT-Austin as a backup.
He is ranked 15th in the class.  He is the vice president of NHS, has been member of Interact for 4 years.  David is the current Treasurer of ADADEC, (Academic Decathalon) and was president in 2013-14.
He is in the National Hispanic Recognition Program.  He is a member of the Magnolia West Theater program and enjoys writing scripts and playing guitar.  He made a 32 on his ACT!
David mentioned that the students at Magnolia West form a tight group and are like family.  He also mentioned the outstanding support from the faculty.
 
Rocky Carroll:
Wants to study Aerospace Engineering and already has his pilot's license.
Rocky is ranked 18th in the class.  He is seeking a nomination for the Naval Academy and considering a NROTC scholarship to UT-Austin.
Rocky is the president of Interact, VP of the Student Council, a member of NHS.  He has competed in UIL (University Interscholastic League) Academics in Current Events.
He belonged to Unite West in 2012.  He is part of the "No Place for Hate Committee" and has competed in the Cross Country and Track teams.
He has accumulated over 100 hours of community service working with Habitat for Humanity, K9's for Cops, and Park Manor Nursing Home.
One of his activities is riding an 8' unicycle.  He plays all types of string instruments.
Rocky and his family moved here from Houston.  Rocky says Magnolia is the best.  All of the students honored today are close.
