On January 6, 2015, the Magnolia Rotary Club met to discuss the upcoming Paul Harris Dinner and the Raptor Cage project.

Paul Harris Dinner - 02/19/2015

The plan this year is to make the surrounding community more aware of what the Magnolia Rotary Club does and potentially gain new members in addition to awarding Paul Harris Awards to both Rotary and non-Rotary individuals. In order to accomplish this, our club decided to hold the event at the High Meadow Ranch Golf Club House. Instead of the usual meal, it has been decided to offer drinks and Hors D'oeuvres so that the money could be used toward more Paul Harris awards for non-Rotarians. In addition, a silent auction will also be held to raise additional funds for the same purpose.

To date, almost 60 names have been submitted to Dan Lowe as possible non-Rotarian invitees. Additional suggestions at the meeting included the head of the SOS, Celeste Graves, Charlotte Harris of KMCB, the head of Special Olympics, the head of Joy Ride, Judy Deyo of TOMAGWA, Kendrick Skipper from Chick-fil-A, the head of Backyard Radio, the head of Canrig, Steve Shafer from Lone Star College, and all Magnolia Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellows.

The next board meeting was moved from the end of the month to next week (1/13/2015) at 11:00 AM in order to finalize the invitee list and get the invitations out via email and standard mail service. The time for the meeting has been set as 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM on 2/19/2015. The dress will be business casual.

Real Provencher suggested that we look into whether or not we can skype in some Interract students. Deborah Miller agreed to be the chair person for the event and will work with High Meadow Ranch to decorate the room and provide drinks and Hors D'oeuvres. Carl Gerhardt will provide the Power Point Presentation. Diane Payne will handle getting the invitations out once the list is finalized. Dan Lowe will bring a draft of the agenda for the event to next week's meetings.

Raptor Cage Project

As chair of the Raptor Cage Project, Frank Parker told everyone that we will need to have a completed project report into the district headquarters by no later than March 22, 2015. Therefore, we really need to get started on this project very soon. The date of February 28, 2015 at 9:00 AM in the morning was set as the club's first work day. At the point, the four large corner poles will be in the ground. Frank Parker will bring a list of tools needed to next week's meeting.

Real Provencher suggested that everyone take photos as if they intended to show a slide presentation in the future of how the project was started and completed.

It was also noted that Spring Break starts on March 14th this year and that getting help from any students during that week may not be possible.
