On April 25, 2017, Alpha Academy's Principal Dean Frederick introduced his choice for this quarter's Student's of Excellence for Alpha Academy. Pictured above from left to right are: Principal Dean Frederick, Student of Excellence Brenda Jo Lynn Johnson, Student of Excellence Sawyer Harnedy, and Rotarian Kelly McDonald.

Principal Dean Frederick first explained the difference between Alpha Academy and Alternative Discipline Schools. Mr. Frederick explained that Alpha Academy is an alternative academic school and does not have students who require discipline. All of his students attend Alpha because they want or need to graduate earlier than normal or they have missed previous semesters and need to simply catch up.

Principal Frederick then introduced both Sawyer Harnady (and his father) and Brenda Jo Lynn Johnson and her parents before allowing each student to talk about what their plans after graduation are.

Sawyer Harnedy explained that he will graduate on 5/25/2017 and plans on attending Lone Star College to pursue a career in security.

Brenda Jo Lynn Johnson told everyone that she wants to be an artist and possibly a film maker but she was not sure where or if she was going to college.
